Status report update on the Lucent Medical Settlement as of February 17, 2012:

On February 17, 2012, the attorneys for the retirees filed a Third Status Report Re: Settlement Distribution to update the Court on the progress of the settlement distribution and the investigation of the 450 households where eligibility has not yet been finally determined.

As detailed in the Report, as of February 15, 2012, class members have cashed a total of 47,803 settlement checks, representing 90.01% of the checks issued and 91.45% of the funds distributed. The Report provides additional information about the steps being taken for the remaining checks and about the ongoing investigation of the remaining households that have not received a check or have not cashed the check.

You can review the Third Status Report by clicking on this link.

The following video from Alcatel Lucent was uploaded to Youtube in February 2011. Wim Sweldens, President, Alcatel-Lucent wireless activities, talks about lightRadio™, a new system that signals the end of the mobile industry's reliance on masts and base stations around the world. lightRadio represents a new architecture where the base station, typically located at the base of each cell site tower, is broken into its components elements and then distributed into both the antenna and throughout a cloud-like network.
Additionally today's clutter of antennas serving 2G, 3G, and LTE systems are combined and shrunk into a single powerful, Bell Labs-pioneered multi frequency, multi standard Wideband Active Array Antenna that can be mounted on poles, sides of buildings or anywhere else there is power and a broadband connection. LOCAL RETIREE NEWS

WECO SAGE is a Group formed by computer pioneers who worked for Western Electric Company in the 1950s and 1960s installing an Air Defense System for the United States Air Force. The members of this Group have maintained their personal, and in some cases professional, relationships for over 50 years. The Group, whose members once numbered in the hundreds, meet on an annual basis at different locations throughout the country. The next meeting will be in Kansas City, Missouri in June 2012. Club WECO-AT&T-Bell Labs-Lucent Technologies-Teletype-NCR-ALU This group is intended primarily as a forum to connect (network) and maintain communication between past and/or current members of Western Electric / AT&T / Teletype / AT&T Computer Systems / Lucent Technologies / NCR / and Alcatel-Lucent / Bell Laboratories. They held their annual reunion at Four Lakes Lodge, Lisle, IL on December 16th. Photos available. Contact Jim Simak.

THE LUCENT RETIREES ORGANIZATION (LRO) was chartered in January 2003 in the state of New York. Its purpose is to address the interests of 127,000 individuals under the Lucent pension plan that embodies all Lucent and Bell Labs retirees, including those who retired when the company was known as Western Electric and/or AT&T Network Systems, plus subsidiaries such as Teletype and Sandia.

The LRO was formed to leverage members' Lucent stock ownership power, their long-standing and influential relationships not only with Lucent but with Lucent's customers and their influence with lawmakers and regulators. The LRO wants to assist Lucent in returning to its former position as the premier telecommunications leader in the world.

The organization endeavors to safeguard the pensions and benefits that Lucent has committed to provide its retirees, spouses and dependents. In addition, the LRO helps its members and their families with issues relating to their pensions, benefits, Social Security, Medicare and other aspects that impact their quality of life.

We currently have over 12,000 members. LRO membership is open to current retirees with a Lucent pension, a person vested for a Lucent pension, or the spouse of any such retiree or vested person. The LRO is incorporated as a non-profit organization. 'JOIN US' to become an LRO member.
